The park is completely self supported by Trust Funds, recreational fees and other Park revenue. Baxter State Park receives no tax dollars or other funds from the State of Maine. The Park's goal is to have Trust Funds and other Park Revenue pay 70% of each year's budget, with recreational fees providing the other 30%. Fees have not changed in 10 years and we have relied more and more on Park Trust Funds. We are mandated to keep the Trust Funds "sustainable in perpetuity" (available forever), therefore we must take modest amounts from this source.
