Gate Schedules From May 15 to October 15 Togue Pond will open at 6:00 A.M. and close at 10:00 P.M. The Matagamon will open at 6:00A.M. and close at 9:00 P.M. unless the Director modifies the gatehouse hours. So in short:...... Gates Open at 6:00 am. 5:00 am for the months of July and August and on busy weekends. Weekends are VERY BUSY Saturday 08/17/02 I arrived at the gate at 3:20 am and was sixth in line and by 4:30 it looked like a parade. ROARING BROOK DAY USE PARKING AREA was full by 5:30am Weekdays are better, Wednesday 08/21/02 I arrived at the gate at 3:50 am and was fourth in line. On that day Roaring Brook was full 6:15am. I know it`s early, just get there early, drop the TAILGATE have some breakfast and get youself ready. Have some fun with it!

Day Use Vehicle Limits Day use has been limited to the parking lot capacity at each campground, trailhead and picnic area in the park. Once the parking lot is filled to capacity, no additional motor vehicles will be admitted. Gates open at 6:am. However they are opening the gates at 5:AM for the months of July and August and on busy weekends, giving us more daylight to hike in. Once parking lots are full, those trails are closed. Summer weekends are very busy and can easily be full by 6:00 to 6:30. For example on a Sunday in October `98 I arrived at 5:45 am and had 20 vehicles ahead of me. So you never know, might as well get to in line drop the tailgate have some breakfast and mingle with all the other hilers.
