St. Patty`s Day On top of Washington 03/17/01
St. Patrick's Day was the most beautiful all winter. Average windspeed 10.5mph with peak windspeed of 22mph. The temperature climbed to 23 degrees twice during the day.
Climbing the Lions Head winter route in only a Smart Wool t-shirt and a fleece vest I was more than comfortable. Only upon reaching the summit did I put on a shell to shield myself from the wind.
From there I just relaxed for over an hour enjoying the 100+ mile visibility while having some hot beef stew.
Well it was time to go so with nothing but the shirt on my back and the warm sun on my face the trip down was perfect. Not a breath of wind and the sun was so warm, just glad I remembered the suntan lotion.
